SIGBU Finance was founded in 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland by Pierre Gay, Founder and Managing Partner.
Pierre Gay has close to thirty years of experience in the commodity sector, including twenty years at BNP Paribas in Geneva, where he headed a management group in Structured Commodity Finance (Group Head, Structured Commodity Finance).
He subsequently held several C-suite positions within Geneva-based commodity trading houses, as well as non-executive board directorships in the industry, notably overseeing the establishment of trading platforms in Geneva and their access to financing from leading international commodity trade finance banks.

By way of brief background, I bring close to thirty years of experience in the commodity sector, of which twenty years at BNP Paribas in Geneva heading a management group in Structured Commodity Finance, followed by several C-suite positions within Geneva-based commodity trading houses and non-executive board directorships in the industry.
I have been closely involved with the commodity trading world from every angle of its value chain, from transactional and structured financing of oil, LPG, metals and soft commodities, to the governance, credit, risk and internal control frameworks that underpin sound trading operations, and through to the strategic and shareholder-level decisions that shape trading platforms.
This exposure to the banking side, the executive management of trading companies and the boardroom gives me a practical and well-rounded understanding of what lenders expect, of the operational realities traders face day to day, and of the governance standards that banks, investors, auditors and regulators increasingly require.
It is this perspective that I now put to work in advising trading companies on their corporate set-up, financing strategy and banking relationships.
Our Positioning
SIGBU Finance supports companies active in the commodity trading supply chain, helping them adapt their organisation (corporate governance, compliance and operational set-up) to the increasingly stringent requirements imposed on traders by banks, commodity finance funds, insurers, risk managers, auditors and society at large.
The firm positions itself as an enabler, bridging the cultural gap between the business DNA of niche to medium-sized traders and that of their financial partners.
